There’s always something.
I find myself saying that over and over at the busy café I work at.
“The cheese is expired and we have no back-up!” There’s always something.
“Johnny can’t come in because his cat is sick!” There’s always something.
“The customer didn’t want to take a number, so we accidentally gave his shake away!” There’s always something.
I have to intentionally remind myself to smile and move on because if I freaked out over every little thing that went wrong there, I would fall apart daily.
Can anyone relate to the server life, by the way? Just me? alright then…
If I woke up in the morning and nothing hurt, I would think I was dead.
The truth is that there IS always something. Seriously! There’s always an obstacle in our course.
There will always be naysayers. There will be days when you just can’t bear to get out of bed in the morning because of the pain of it all. I think just knowing that simple bit of information can help better prepare us for the day. Does that make any sense?
If we know there will always be something wrong, we might not be so distraught when something bad happens. It might not totally set us off course or unravel us. We were expecting it. We were prepared. And it’s never a bad thing to be prepared.
“If I woke up in the morning and nothing hurt, I would think I was dead.”
Initially I thought of this quote as saying something like, “life always sucks” or “I’m always injured” or “I’m getting old so my body always aches.”
But really, I think it just means that there is always something that will be a pain in the butt, if you will. Whether it be physical pain or emotional pain. There is always something, so we can recognize that something, but we don’t have to let it hold us back. The challenges in life are what allows us to learn and change and grow.
The aches let us know we are alive.
I changed the words around a bit, but it still works the same, right?
There’s Always Something, And That’s Okay
That something in your life today might seem ginormous right now (and hugs to you if your something seems too big to handle. life does get rough.). You might have just been surprised with a crazy mishap, a change in plans or even just spilled coffee all over your desk. (<-makes me want to go back to bed)
There’s always something. And that’s okay.
Give yourself a break.
Take a deep breath.
Conquer the day anyway.
What’s your “something” today?
If you don’t want to share something in the present..what is something in the past you have learned from?
