This blog, The iLOVE Project, is all about finding the love in your life!
I’m Amanda, the founder of The iLOVE Project, and I believe that we aren’t meant to go from day to day just trying to survive–we are meant to thrive!
I know what it’s like to be downright depressed and unhappy with life. I lived a long time in a funk where I felt like nothing was going right. I was always worried about what other people thought and like I just wasn’t enough.
It turns out…all I really needed was a change in perspective*. Not that it’s easy (I definitely still have bad days), but often times if we focus on the good in our life we can find true happiness.
However cheesy this all may sound, the power of thought is real.
How do I think this can be accomplished? LOVE.
1. LOVE yourself.
I firmly believe that everything starts with loving yourself. It’s like the analogy where you put on your own oxygen mask before you should attempt to help someone else with theirs. If you don’t love yourself, it is REALLY hard to truly love others.
2. LOVE others.
Once you master step number one (and “master” should be used loosely–no one is perfect and we all have our bad days), you can begin to find ways of loving others. This spans from loving your family, having a healthy relationship with a significant other, accepting people no matter their religion, race, color, shape, size, orientation, etc to finding the strength to love the jerk who cut you off in traffic.
3. Find LOVE for your life.
This aspect is all about finding your passions.
What makes you tick?
What makes you giggle?
What is your style?
What makes you downright excited to get out of bed?
Everyone has something different to bring to the table and I will be exploring my passions, strengths and quirks here on the blog (as will the lovely contributors).
So…what do we actually blog about at The iLOVE Project?
We will cover all three topics which can really contain a wide array of subtopics including:
1. iLOVE me. aka self-love
-Knowing your flaws, but accepting yourself anyways.
-Striving for progress, but never perfection.
-Picking out the things you LOVE about yourself–your body and your brain.
2. iLOVE others.
-Volunteer opportunities/ways to give back to the community.
-Accepting others no matter their race, religion, orientation, shape, size, color, or any other difference you can think of.
-Pets. I have a fluffy cat Zoey that I can’t help talking about.
3. iLOVE my life.
-Finding your style.
More about Amanda…
I’ve been blogging 5+ years and have had decent success with building my blog Diary of a Semi-Health Nut, but felt a bit restricted on only being able to talk food + fitness.
After two years of debating in my head, I finally bought the domain name and hosting in March of 2015, then slowly worked on my second blog, The iLOVE Project whenever I had time for a handful of months. I was able to finally launch in August of 2015. I hope you enjoy the content as much as I enjoy creating it!
Amanda’s Favorite Things (in no particular order)…
-Good hair days
-My fluffy cat, Zoey (she even has an Instagram account)
-My fiance, Dave. He’s my perfect, hilarious partner in crime and always makes me feel pretty. (<-so important whether we want to believe it or not)
-Long walks while listening to my favorite podcasts
-“Sword fights” with my nephew
-Getting nerdy taking pictures of food
-Buying way too many props to take pictures of food
-Helping people (even just one person) realize how awesome, unique and lovely they are.
-Working hard doing something iLOVE.
Overall, I hope you leave this space a little happier about life and inspired to make a change! Thank you so much for being here and reading The iLOVE Project.
